Dr. Ishita Mondal is an RCI-registered Clinical Psychologist (A61933) specializing in trauma-informed care, cognitive-behavioural therapies for anxiety, depression, OCD, eating disorders, personality disorders, addiction/social media disorder, intervention for ADHD and learning disabilities in children, with over 9 years of clinical, research, and teaching experience.

A Ph.D. and M.Phil. graduate from NIMHANS, she has been recognized for academic excellence, including the Debarpita Mukhopadhyay Book Prize (1st Rank, B.A. Psychology Honors, Calcutta University), 2nd Rank in M.A. Psychology, and All India 1st Rank in ICMR-JRF (Social Sciences). She secured AIR 02 in the NIMHANS M.Phil. entrance examinations, alongside UGC-NET-JRF and SET qualifications. Her research spans trauma processing and behavioural addictions with 15+ publications in reputed journals.

A dynamic professional, she served as Lecturer at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, where she supervised MD Psychiatry, MPhil Psychiatric Social Work, and Clinical Psychology students. She also served as a Clinical Psychologist at NIMHANS Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She contributed 1,400+ clinical hours at NIMHANS, specializing in CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness-based interventions and trauma-informed care.

Beyond academia, she is a karate practitioner (Japan Karate Association), trained Kathak dancer, and award-winning visual artist. Her community impact includes volunteering for animal welfare, blood donation drives. She was a Student Core Committee member for the Student Support Network under the Student Wellbeing at NIMHANS. She integrates empathy and cultural sensitivity into her trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming practice.

What is therapy to me? To me, therapy is a collaborative journey where the client and therapist work together to explore the client’s goals, support their recovery, and empower them to thrive in the directions they choose. It provides a safe and non-judgmental space for self-exploration, healing, and personal growth.

Therapeutic approach: I have been trained in cognitive-behavioural and narrative frameworks of therapy. I believe in a whole-person approach to therapy and adopt a humanistic, person-centred approach in my work.
